I've always wanted to do this. Having a career in IT, I realized the value of a website. It was certainly a learning process in creating this website and sharing my world. I worked at the layout, the software selection, my logo, and the text for the site. I went through the process of registering with the Missouri Department of Revenue (not the easiest process, I will admit).
Finally, I am almost ready to "go public" with my site. What has this process done for me?
It has made me focus more on my photographs
I have looked at hundreds, if not thousands of my photographs. I have asked questions about why a picture worked. I have regretted that I shot a photograph in landscape instead of portrait. It has made me reflect on memories of capturing the shot.
It has made me think of this as a business
I have thought and thought about pricing, connection to social media, taxation, and building a business. There are many things to consider when thinking as a business.
It has made me shoot more
Perhaps the best thing is that I started shooting more. This has made me carry my camera more. That has been good. Shoot and thinking about it makes you a better shooter. I have worked on technique more in the last few months than I did in the last five years.
Keep checking here! There is more to come. I plan on officially opening the site on May 15!
